Teacher Insights: Visit Memory Lane at Leon Exchange 7th Online Auction 2018

Art and other antiques has been a good investment for collectibles. And for me, seeing a timeless painting or muebles gives me a good historic “twilight” feeling. For this season, Leon Gallery’s 7th online auction under the Leonexchange platform will be on April 27 and 28 (Friday and Saturday) starting at 2 PM. All bidding will be purely online at www.leonexchange.com.

The highlights of the auction are the contents of the famous residence of Dr. and Mrs. Alejandro Roces Legarda in San Rafael Street, San Miguel district and just across Malacañang Palace. The heritage house later on became a well-loved restaurant, “Cocina de Tita Moning”. It housed the magnificent painting “La Inocencia” by Felix Resureccion Hidalgo. The furniture and fixtures of the home are exquisite examples from the 1920’s to the 1930’s.

Among the paintings in the auction are works by Juvenal Sanso, Arturo Luz, Hernando R. Ocampo, as well as watercolors by Carlos V. Francisco. Some of the furniture and objets d’art are pieces from the collections of the National Artist Jose Joya and the respected antiquarian, art critic, and jeweler Ramon N. Villegas.
