How do you find OPM music nowadays? Most of our recording artists today are reinventing their music styles and compositions based on western culture and bringing uplifting beats to their songs. But as for me, there’ no greater beat than listening to classic OPM music and make it speak your life story.
In our case, that’s how Maestro Mr. Ryan Cayabyab made his music. Known as Mr. C, Cayabyab established his reputation very well in more than just being a Filipino musician, composer and conductor. He,in fact, won several awards and recognitions in local and international competitions that made him the MAESTRO in the Filipino music industry. His songs speak Filipino typical stories that reflect who we are as Filipinos. No wonder that these songs still resonate in us even in this present generation.
To honor this maestro in his big contribution to our Filipino music industry and shaping the sound of our culture, SM Sucat created a week-long exhibit to show his excellence. Located inside mall, SM management displayed some of his trophies, discoverable items, and artworks for shoppers to know Mr. C better in a nutshell.
During the launch of the exhibit last Independence Day, the mall is filled with beautiful music of Mr. C with “Ryan Cayabyab Singers” serenading the crowd. After building the successful vocal groups like Smokey Mountain, 14K and The San Miguel Master Chorale (SMMC), the RCS was formed to perform and promote the sounds of OPM in and out of the country, joining competitions and making Filipino people proud with our music.
The exhibit is open from June 12 to 17 at the Annex A of SM Sucat. This event aims to give shoppers a different way of celebrating Filipino music and patriotism.
