I was hoping for “free” Pitch Perfect 2 movie pass. And I still do.I don’t usually go to the cinema to watch movies. Unless the movie is indeed a “worth for my money”. But invites come and go and once again I was invited to watch a movie, and this time it’s a Melissa McCarthy’s film which I thought it is all just comedy. But there’re a lot of things in that movie that I didn’t expect it will leave me soo amazed and joyful afterward.
THE MOVIE: Spy
CASTS: Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Jessica Chaffin, Jude Law, Morena Baccarin, Rose Byrne
WRITTEN and DIRECTED BY: Paul Feig
THE PLOT
Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another top agent (Jason Statham) is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster.
THE REVIEW
If there’s one sentence that I would describe this movie, that would be, “THIS IS THE BEST SPY COMEDY FILM EVER!” from Mellisa McCarthy.I’d only noticed Mellisa McCarthy as one of the funny girls in the film “Bridesmaids”, but I never seen her like this before. From being a “just” co-star herself, she really nailed her performance and her versatility as an actress never failed to amazed people. You might see some comedy spy film already like Jackie Chan’s “The Tuxedo” and many more. But there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to this movie. There’s action; intense action, there’s “friend-zone” scenes going on and there’s hard laugh antics that will leave you laughing at the end of the film.
Susan Copper might be the typical lady who’s looking for some spice in her life. And being an “underdog” herself, McCarthy’s character surprises viewers in so many ways. It will leave you with so many shocking revelations that will make you laughing from beginning till the very end of showing.
Another thing that fascinates me is the surprise twists of the two “very serious” action stars, Jude Law and Jason Statham. I’m ok laughing with McCarthy’s crazy antics, but seeing Statham being so hilariously funny makes it more fun and new to the public eye. The interactions of each character really portrait very well. I don’t even have time to be confused on what is going on because I’m so busy having fun with everything that I saw. Feminist issues aside, this movie show the other side of each Actor and Actresses that more than meets the eye. It was refreshing and innovative to my movie taste. This movie is indeed a “money worth paid” and I will never get tired watching it again and again.
