Watsons invites everyone to participate their new advocacy called Slay the Swarm:The Anti-Dengue Fashion Phenomenon -a health advocacy campaign to prevent the rising cases of dengue in the Philippines.
Dengue is rampant in tropical countries like ours and Aedes Aegypti can be found wherever we go, especially this rainy season. But what exactly is an Aedes Aegypti? It’s the scientific name of the yellow fever mosquito: a carrier of yellow fever, dengue, and other deadly viruses. So what does this entail?
From January to June of this year alone, the Quezon City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (QCESU) has reported 1,160 dengue cases in Quezon City alone from these mosquitoes. Additionally, the Department of Health (DOH) stated that the country has logged 72,333 dengue cases, which is 14% higher than last year. These numbers shouldn’t be taken lightly, but at the same time, we don’t need to be afraid of it.
Join Watsons in spotting the swarm of Aedes Aegypti buzzing their way to invade the Quezon Memorial Circle this August 27, 2023, Sunday from 9:00AM-4:00PM.
