What if six very important problems of our time moved into the same neighborhood? All demanding for your undivided attention – which one do you listen to? In its seventh season, Mind S-Cool TV transforms into Barangay Komplikado, a strange and fascinating neighborhood that mirrors our own world. Here, six Very Important Problems or VIPs come alive as new characters personifying critical issues surrounding nature and our lives.
The climate crisis takes the form of KLIMA, SARI mourns the alarming loss of wildlife and biodiversity, SUSI insists on understanding the real meaning behind sustainability, UNOS rages in as a reminder of the increasing intensity of disasters, HILOM guides the path towards resilience and recovery, and finally, the most elusive of all VIPs, BUKAS, who embodies our collective futures and how it is shaped by the actions we make today.
Together, they make life in Barangay Komplikado, well… complicated! With each VIP insisting that they are more urgent over the others, the weary residents of Barangay Komplikado become increasingly confused and overwhelmed on how to solve all of them.
To turn this chaos into exciting quests, Manong G – the cool and mysterious guardian of knowledge in Mind S-Cool – brings in the Questers, Mikee, Pecier, Mario, and Megan to Barangay Komplikado.
In each episode, the Questers will go on unique adventures designed by each VIP highlighting the complex realities behind each of them. Along the way, they will meet various characters from Barangay Komplikado whom they will work with to find creative solutions to the challenges given by the VIPs.
As we journey deeper, we will begin to understand that no VIP stands alone. Instead, what we will unravel is that these very important problems are in fact deeply connected forces that must be understood and faced together.
The season will culminate on one final quest to help bring clarity to BUKAS. Here, the Questers and audience will draw on everything that they have learned from Klima, Sari, Susi, Unos, and Hilom. Ultimately we will learn that the key to securing our collective futures is in cultivating the values that we must possess and choose to live by today.
Mind S-COOL TV Season 7 is brought to life by the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc. (BAFI) in partnership with the Center for Conservation Innovations PH Inc. (CCIPH), with the support of the Mindoro Forest and Biodiversity Conservation Programme (MFBCP) and the Government of Canada.
