Teacher’s Insights: My #GreatBritishFestival at BGC Experience

British Invasion has been part of our world history even to this present generation. From the Beatles to One Direction, to Harry Potter Series and Game of Throne episodes; everything British has always been a part of our culture today. And it never goes out of style. Well, I don’t need to buy an expensive ticket to go there or daydreaming about it by watching movies. Because recently, I just got a chance to go there! It’s not hassle actually. Because it’s only one jeepney ride away from our home. “Great British Festival” was a 3-day event made by “British Embassy Manila” last February 28-March 1 at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. This is an event where you can find everything that you’re looking for at Great Britain. Everything I was all “British-inspired” from food, clothes, education, movies, etc. It’s like being in UK at one place. With a little Filipino taste, of course. The aim of this festival was to strengthen the relationship between the British community and Filipino community by welcoming everyone to see and taste what the Great Britain was to offer.

I didn’t have a chance to explore much about the event, but I must say that this event is an experience that I would never forget. These are the pics that I took while wandering around the festival village. My eyes are really amazed from the replicas of the famous British Landmarks displayed in the middle of Bonifacio High Street open grounds.

Replica of Stonehenge located in Wiltshire, England

replica of “Big Ben” near the Palace of Westminster in London

The very famous “London Bridge”

More than just famous British landmarks, there’s also replica items of some famous British pop culture movie and TV shows.

The House door of the well-known “Sherlock Holmes” and the “Iron Throne” of the epic show “Game of Thrones”

The Village also has something from automobiles (Morgan Cars, Mini Cooper etc), Education (British School Manila), Fashion, Electronics and Engineering Industry, to Food and Entertainment.

Twinings Tea, Yummy Organics and Waitrose.

British bus full of “Mark and Spencers” items.

This Morgan Car is such a hottie! 😉

The Festival Finale of these whole activities brings fun and excitement to the visitors where they gave away cool British items,  “One Directions: Live in Manila” concert tickets and Roundtrip tickets to the UK courtesy of Etihad Airways for FREE!!! Too bad I didn’t join the raffle, but I do enjoy my small adventure in this event. At the end of the formal event, people were experience an “outside cinema” feeling by watching free movies like Harry Potter Series, James Bond films and Sherlock Holmes series. And that’s what I called TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT!

First time watching a “Sherlock Holmes” film, and it was an epic one!
