Piolo and Inigo Pascual have been the father-son tandem whose well admired in the Showbiz industry. Recently, Piolo and Inigo Pascual shared their lives with their fans as they joined Sun Life Philippines for their segment, “#SunTalksLite.” In this episode, this father-son tandem shared certain insights about how their shared interest, how they manage life’s changes, and more.
During the Sun Talks, I learned many things from Piolo and Inigo Pascual that made me admire them more. I got some pointers as well that I hope to help you reach your goals amidst the pandemic:
Let yourself take charge in making choices over your goals.
As a son of a well-respected actor, Inigo was not forced to walk in the footsteps of his father, but rather choose what he wants to do and pursue it. Piolo didn’t dictate Inigo to pursue showbiz, but led a good example to his son as a father and let Inigo choose for himself what he wants to be. A few years later, we now see Inigo as a promising international artist, shining in his spotlight and making a name for himself.
As parents, we should not dictate our children’s careers and status in life. Rather “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). Good thing Piolo, despite their distance, did his best to be there for his son and lead Inigo to become who he is today.
Grow more and manage more amidst quarantine
Inigo already got his first condominium unit 2 months before the lockdown happens. With that, Inigo learned the “adulting way” of handling his independence while in the comfort of his home. He was able to learn new hobbies, train more for his dancing skills, and ultimately, learn how to manage his finances.
In our adulting season, we should realize that developing as a person should not end with just having employment and pay our bills. Our goal every day is to make ourselves learn new things about who we are by discovering new things to do and knowing how to manage our money at the same time. Do things that you love and build passion projects if you have to. For you’ll never know what it is unless you try.
Secure your future while you can
What struck me the most is how Piolo became so free both in his time and finances. Since he started showbiz at an early age like his son, this gave Piolo time to primarily hold his craft as an actor, earn more through his projects, and build a stable financial plan for him and his family. Fast forward, he can now have more time to spend with his family and do what he loves, without worrying much about his finances and retirement.
The good thing about this mindset is people can now have a chance to take charge of their present and future goals. I learn that if I start NOW with my goals and not wait aimlessly for the sheer luck to come in my way, my future will surely thank me. That’s why while I’m doing my freelance work/passion projects, I’m also making sure to secure my future with Sun Life.
